Paul Van Dyk was fantastic, totally awesome! It was held at the Capitol, a club I've never been to, with red lamps and lighting that maked it look kind of like the Onyx Bar in Subi, only unlike the Onyx, it wasn't filled with insufferably snobbish posers ;P
Another girl was wearing the same pinstriped hat I was - she didn't look too happy when she saw me with the hat! I couldn't care less myself, I was just having such a good time.
Met a bunch of the Duchess's friends, who are really nice peeps :) Also, the Duchess was on a mission to get herself drunk, downing whiskey coke after whiskey coke, constantly requesting the bartenders for more whiskey in her coke.
Miracle of miracles, I only had two whiskey cokes and a Corona. After that, I was completely alcohol-free and lived on water the rest of the night! It was really a night of moderation - only had three cigarettes, three drinks, and honestly nothing else at all, not even drugs.
I know, I know. I'm shocked too. But I was on such a hyped-up state, I didn't even notice the absence of chemical substances fueling my body. Un-Bel-LEAVE-A-BULL!!!
It ended about four-ish and then we headed to this guy's house. He's from Malaysia too, but he's been in Perth for ages. I met quite a few Malaysia-Perth people last night, awesome! :) We hung about in his house, the poor Duchess was totally starved then and she *gasp* ate! A ham and cheese bun! *GASP GASP GASP*
Okay, I'd better stop this before she smacks me. *grins*
We didn't get back until eight this morning, whereupon I collasped into bed and only woke up a couple of hours ago. It's a cloudy windy day. I'm hoping it won't rain because the Duchess has agreed to come have Thai food with me soon at the restaurant down the street and I really, really want some creamy rice with green curry chicken!
This morning - I mean afternoon that is, since I only woke up around four - my flatmate Aik comes bursting in the door and he stops when he sees me and demands "Have you ever had the chicken pox?"
I stop. "No," I say. Then, suspiciously, "Why? Do you have it?"
He's not sure if he does, but he has red spots all over his face. He's made a doctor's appointment, but as usual, the university clinic is so fully booked that it's not until Monday. Bloody hell! And in the meantime he could infect the entire campus! I screech at him not to come near me and he chases me into my room. I can't get chicken pox - especially not right now - it's production week next week!
Oh, by the way, some of you who have been visiting my blog lately might have noticed that the pictures weren't loading properly. Turns out I had to visit Photobucket and agree to a bunch of whole new conditions, then my pictures could load properly again. So hooray! All is well again. :)
Speaking of pictures, I finally got around to visiting Tom Thumb Hairdryer's online photo album. While his background screen is very lovely and all, I nearly died of horror when I saw how many horrible candid shots of me that he has there. If that little camera of his ever comes near me again, I might very well just grab it and smash it to bits! Bloody hell! Now I know what celebrities who get snapped by the papparazzi and have yucky candid shots of themselves publoished around the world in tabloids feel like. Lol, fie fie candid shots! I can only feel grateful that his photo album has a password on it so not everyone on the Internet can view those shots, more likely only a handful of Italian and Austrian peeps whom I will never meet anyway.
But, horror set aside, it was nice to see those candid shots and remember all the good times we all had last semester! But then half of the shots wouldn't load either. Tom Thumb, fix that album of yours!
All right, everyone, have a good weekend! :)

Wine Me, Dine Me, and I'll Be Yours, I'm Cheap That Way ;)
So anyway, this weekend was a weekend full of wine and sleep. On Friday night, had mucho cheap wine with the Lost Smoker and fell asleep at the Gutter Philosopher's house while everyone else either went to Northbridge or Freo. Then on Saturday night, had mucho sauvignon cabernet with the Gutter Philosopher over dinner (not to mention too much chicken and cous cous) and fell asleep early again while everyone went to Freo. Hmph.
All around, there's been too much falling asleep. I don't understand it. Wine has never put me asleep like this before. It must be a sleeping draught in the air.
And then on Monday, the dear Duchess returned from her nightmarish filming trip to Margaret River with, like, ten bottles of desert wine and a bottle of merlot for me. Thanks, Duchess! *beams*
Now she wants me to come over to her room in nothing but a bathrobe on. Ooooh.
*Ahem*
Anyway...
Tomorrow the Duchess and I are going to see Paul Van Dyk! Whoot!
Oh, and great news. The Bundles has gotten a job! She will be working in a legal firm! How cool does that sound? Although I never knew that lawyers needed marketing executives as well. Bundles, you must buy tons of cool suits and power heels and tell me how life is like mingling with power-hungry money-hungry ferocious Boston-Legal lawyer types. ;)
All my friends are getting awesomely cool jobs... I only hope I get just-as-cool jobs when I graduate...
And I've started reading The Magus by John Fowles, which was recommended to me by the Lost Smoker ages ago...only it took forever for me to even take it from his room because it has a hell scary picture on the front...
And I've finished The Famished Road by Ben Okri, which was recommended to me by the Porn Star...it was a fantastic book, that much I must say! I didn't think too much of it when I first started the book, but it turned out to be simply awesome. I recommend it to everyone and anyone! Thanks, Porn Star, for the recommendation! (Who knew a stripper would have such good taste in books? hehe, just kidding, Porn Star. You are One.Intellectual.Stripper)
All right, must go. The Duchess is waiting for me to start dinner. See ya guys! ;)

Let's all make a list of the loveliest things in the world. We'd just make it up as we go along, just list anything at all that pops into your head!

My list is:

Long hot showers on cold wintry days

Dipping a wooden scoop into an old-fashion wooden bucket full of water...like those that they have in Japanese saunas...

The sound of rain falling on the roof...also watching a lovely, light, delicate, silky-grey curtain of rain falling from the roof eaves into a misty green garden...

Sitting on a beach at night under a star-strewn sky

The smell of new books

The sound of the wind whispering through the trees

Watching the sun rise with friends after a long, awesome night

A flame burning in the dark of the night

The sound of the footstep of a long-awaited loved one coming home

Running down a long green slope

Sitting among the massive roots at the base of a huge tree

Running through the rain

The sound of a single drop of water falling into a pond

A weeping willow tree

The sound of a windchime

The taste of water after a long, hot day

Furry little kittens

The feel of the sand of a beach and the foam of the sea on your feet

Tibet

The feel of warm sunshine on your skin

The caress of the wind against your face

The brilliant blue of the river under the sparkling of sunlight

A moonlit river

Dancing... without caring about what anyone else thinks about you...

Now, that's my list. What's yours? ;)

So, anyway, the last I said was that I was feeling bad after that memorable wednesday night. Right after I posted my entry, the Lost Smoker came on MSN and we started talking and the Lost Smoker started going on about fresh orange juice and vodka for breakfast and, needless to say, we both decided that was what we needed to pick us up this morning. Yours truly was a bad influence as she convinced the Lost Smoker to blow off a social politics lecture to go to the uni tav and have yummy, yummy, icy-cold screwdrivers. Yummmm....
Oh...and I have to say that Flat 28 wins the prize for the best messages ever written on their whiteboard...especially the latest ones which go: "Someone has been using my soap in the bathrooom. I really don't mind if you use it, but please stop leaving hairs in the soap, it's really gross."
And then a few days later: "Someone is still using my soap and leaving hairs in it, please don't do that as it is really gross. It's been 4 days and I've counted 9 hairs."
Ew...gross...
Poor old Flat 28 has been having a lot of bathroom troubles. The Duchess was scared by a cockroach in the shower and the Lost Smoker had to go kill it with bug spray from her. And there was another really gross message about the toilets the other day but I think I'll spare you guys the details on that one.
On the bright (and much cleaner) side, I just completed my two hours of work experience at the uni tav today!!! It was so fun, I loved it, even though the Duchess said I looked so nervous the whole time (well, between figuring out how to work the till and doing my best to make out what everyone was ordering and trying to pour a little creatures ale without too much head, you could hardly blame me for looking nervous. Anyway, everyone always says I look nervous everytime I do a new thing. That's just me. Looking nervous, yet turn your back and I'll spring up on you. And claw your spine out. And slap your ass hard. Hee hee.).
Anyway, yes, it was way, way fun working there, even with the goof-ups I made every now and then. Would they ever take me on for a real job? I had no idea being a bartender was this fun. Well, I've never watched Coyote Ugly :P
I wish I could have stayed longer. I wouldn't mind working for more than two hours! Yay, I think I've found my dream part-time job.
Anyway, once the two hours were over, I left (albeit unwillingly, lol). A huge wind was blowing up as I was leaving, and then it started to drizzle, and before I knew it, I was running through the campus in the rain. It was the best rain ever - nice and cold and fresh and somehow I feel much better about this week.
Yeah, because yesterday was kind of a "let's just cancel it from history" kind of day. Had a fight with the Gutter Philosopher, was completely frustrated by my indesign workshop (but, hey, everyone was ready to throw something by the end of that workshop too), was *almost* stood up by the Duchess for lunch (she came when she heard I was having a bad day), did poorly in the current affairs quiz, went to get Thai lime and ginger chips during class break to cheer me up only to find the vending machine had run out of that particular flavour, almost didn't have enough money for lunch, forgot to get a fork for my pasta and had to run all the way back to the shop to get one, didn't recognize a friend that I had just met the week before and felt really bad about it...
Well, okay, it wasn't that bad a day but I was in a pretty bad mood and had serious thoughts about just crawling into bed and never coming out until the next day.
But today...all is good...:)

Urhhhh...I'm feeling bad.
I was just thinking of the countless times I have had terribly drunken nights, then awoken to an icky hangover and promised myself, "Never again...never again."
Urhhhh.
It's just happened again.
The Lost Smoker will so be laughing at me for this one.
Gaaaah. What a night.
It wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't that horrible feeling in my stomach. Urhhhh.
I can't sleeeep.
Which is why I'm awake at eight am, with nothing to do. I should go make more food. In a minute. After this blog. I don't know if any of the food in my cupboard will suffice as proper food for a hangover, because I always, always, always need a big meal full of good yummy proper carbohydrates to make myself feel better after a night of drinking. And the food in my cupboard consists mostly of: 1 Continental instant soup in Asian Tom Yum flavor with lots of noodles, a loaf of bread, a can of onion and caramelised tuna, an Indo Mee packet that was one of two that Sheryl very kindly gave to me last night when I started a major craving for indo mee right before heading home (I caned the other one last night) and ingredients for pasta. I can't do the pasta now, although that would be the most filling, because the thought of the tart taste of pasta sauce doesn't really appeal to me right now. I need simple, plain-tasting food!!!
On the other hand, now that I think about it, the pasta does sound good. Mmmm. Maybe. If I get up enough energy to make it. Otherwise, the soup first. Easiest and it's pretty good. Yummmm.
Oooh, and I completed my bar course! Yup, the Duchess and I signed up for the university bar course where we were taught how to "serve alcohol responsibly and make popular drinks." Hooray! And it was really fun too.
You should have seen us. The workshop was split into two workshops, each taking two hours long each night. The first one, we were handed a manual and taught about serving alcohol responsibly and how to change a beer keg and what to do if the beer we were serving was too warm or too flat, ect, ect, all the not-so-interesting stuff first. Everyone was really quiet and there wasn't much chatter that night. The second night, they started us on wine-tasting and then on to making cocktails. The moment we all had our first sip of alcohol, everyone immediately started loosening up and becoming chatty and mischevious. Whoot!
Anyway, last night was the cocktail-making night. We had our workshop at the uni tav, and since it was a wednesday night, there were loads of other people milling about and having drinks and...erm...running around in black togas and dancing with giant plastic penguins. Me and the Duchess stayed to have some drinks and bumped into the Roaring Lion and a bunch of other people... and then they decided to walk over to the waterford so we followed them. The Duchess and Mystery Wolf (who had dropped by after her class was over at eight) decided to head home because they had early classes the next morn but I went on with the rest of them. Sigh...I actually managed to sober up during the walk, but that was made kind of redundant after that. Speaking of which, Munya (who had shaved his head!) has given up drinking for lent! When he asked me what I had given up...erm...I couldn't think of anything. Finally, I told him I had given up sobriety. For that night, anyway.
Sigh, sigh, sigh. Foolish one.
Anyway, must relate interesting conversation that the Duchess and I had while waiting for our second workshop to begin. I don't know how it happened, but the Duchess had revealed to me that she actually gets turned on by turtles humping (and also that she had a crush on the Ninja Turtles when she was a kid! gasp!) and I suggested that maybe the Porn Star would do a better job of turning her on by getting her to watch a live porn show of two turtles humping. We ended up sending him a text message of that recommendation. While waiting for him to reply, we debated the proper usage of pronouncing tortoises "Tor-TIS" and "Tor-TOYS". According to the Duchess, "Tor-TIS" is singular and for plural, we pronounce it "Tor-TOYSES". Or so she says.
Then, the Porn Star replies, telling us he'd rather have himself turned on by watching us having sex together. Naturally, we had to reply saying that to have sex together, we'd need to get turned on first ourselves, and the best way would be by watching HIM have sex with a tortoise. Not just a tortoise! But a giant tortoise! And then he replies in shock, asking the Duchess if she is trying to make him prove his love for her and telling us "filthy roadside pigs" that he needs to drive now and can't be distracted. We sit for a while in the sunshine and I suddenly had this image of the Porn Star surrounded by dozens of tortoises that he has just fucked or is going to fuck, and several of them will be lying on their backs, with their fat little feet waving about in the air, going "fuck me, porn star! fuck me!" or "Oooh, darling, that was the best orgasm ever!"
LOL.
Naturally we had to text him with a description of that vision. I can't remember what he said in reply. Must ask Duchess about that.
Urhhh. I think I know why I feel so bad today. I'm not just having a hangover, I've been stricken down by food poisoning! Who dared fed me bad food?!? It has to be either the chip and bacon roll or the chips and sour cream. Or the soup. AAAH.
Anyway, am feeling better now. It wasn't a hangover I was suffering from after all. Either that or the hangover has also passed over. Now I'm just hungry. I want food!!! Who wants to go down to the shops and buy me food???? :D:D:D
Hmmm. I just remembered the pasta.
Yummmm....
Am having a text conversation with the Duchess now. She's convinced that what I'm suffering from is a hangover, not food poisoning. We are currently debating it now. Just so long as nothing else bad happens to me. :D

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

Well, so anyway classes have begun! So far, there hasn't been much for me to do, but I'm so not looking forward to the busy production weeks. At the moment I am just laaa-zy but there is so much ahead for me to do - like journals for my industry placement (GAAAK! I totally forgot about those journals!) and that damn essay and I really should be getting a job...
But at the moment, I'm just being lazy me. Like usual.
Friends had come over to the Gutter Philosopher's house on Saturday night to help me shift my stuff back to EUH but I stepped out of the room for ten minutes to take a shower and when I came back, everyone had gone. "Where's everyone?" I asked the Gutter Philosopher.
"Oh, they've gone back home to change. We're all going clubbing," he answered.
"What!?!" I shrieked. "But what about my things?"
"Oh, we'll help you move them tomorrow."
Move them tomorrow, my ass! Everyone was way too exhausted to wake up in the early morn to help me move my stuff (we were out until four, and even then Pharrell was too hyped up and was running around on the fourth floor of the parking lot because he refused to come back with us and the Soft-Spoken Socializer and Gretchel had to chase him down and force him into the car and hold him down all the way back, especially at red lights) and no one got to bed until about five am and I had to leave before noon anyway because the Duchess and I were going to...yes...yes...you guessed it! Two Tribes!!!
Ew. I just glanced up for a second and accidentally made eye contact with this guy. And now I think he thinks I'm into him. Like, ew. Ew.
Anyhooow, the Two Tribes was fantastically fun. It started at about twelve, I think, and it was majorly, majorly hot at first. The lines at all the free water points were really looong. It was on the big grassy field at the city across the road from the river, and right behind the Justice Courts. (I wonder how the government buildings enjoyed the rave, hehe). And then it went on until ten pm. It was so fun! I met a lot of really nice people, and Estelle PY was there too, and so was the Slacker King. There was just such a good vibe in the air, I really enjoyed it. Not so much later that night, as both the Duchess and Lost Smoker (who has gotten his hair cut! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR CURLS?!?) can attest to. But it was fantastic, nevertheless!
The next day was pretty much a slow day. I was recovering from my rather exhaustive weekend and was barely alive in class for our editorial meeting. Also had major fight with Gutter Philosopher. There was a lot of shouting and screaming and running and driving. And because of this, I missed the Academy Awards on TV last night and the whole red carpet-dress-watching part of the Academy Awards (I always seem to end up missing that part, for some reason) and because of that I missed out on two questions of the current affairs quiz today: 1) Who was the Australian who won an Academy Award last night? and for what category? and 2) Who won best supporting actor in the Academy Wards last nigh? The first one was some guy whose name I can't even remember now, who won the cinematography award for Memoirs of a Geisha and the second was George Clooney. George Clooney! I didn't even know he was up for a nomination! What movie was he nominated for?!? Syriana?!? ER?!???
Anyway, speaking of class, I think I'm really enjoying my print production class. At first I was all like, "Erm...what should I do?!? How am I going to be an editor for other writers?!? I don't even have enough confidence to edit my own stories!" But the other day as I was editting a bunch of stories from the last few semesters, which we had been given just to see how it is like to copy taste, I realized I could actually do it. And it was actually fun. And I'm really starting to think, "Hey, I really can do this. And I really do like it." So, yaaaay.
It's really hot today. Matter of fact, it's been really hot for the past four days. And it's not getting any cooler, I hear.
I just read an article on peanuts and kissing. Apparently, people who are allergic to peanuts shouldn't kiss their boyfriend/girlfriend if they have just eaten peanuts, because the peanut bits lingering in saliva glands or whatever can get passed on from mouth-to-mouth and set off an allergic reaction as well.
I know all about this. I have a boyfriend who refuses to kiss me after I eat fish because he's allergic to fish. It's a good thing I'm not that big a fan of fish. Sometimes, when I get mad at him, I want to put fish in everything he eats. But I don't. Because I'm nice. ;)
Oh, I'm just looking through the "Sixteen Academy Awards moments you never saw". And George Clooney really did win for Syriana. Hmm.
And speaking of which, these are some of the funniest unseen moments ever. Read this funny one:

What you saw: Philip Seymour Hoffman says he is "overwhelmed" by his best-actor win for his role as the author of In Cold Blood in Capote and pays tribute to his mom, who raised four kids alone and took him to his first play.
What you didn't see: Much to his chagrin, Hoffman realizes he forgot to thank his girlfriend, Mimi O'Donnell, when he heads off the stage. Presenter Hilary Swank, who famously didn't thank her husband, actor Chad Lowe, when she won her first Oscar for 1999's Boys Don't Cry, comforts him, saying, "You can't kick yourself over it." Swank thoughtfully leaves out the fact that she and Lowe are now separated.

And this one, I just thought was so sweet...

What you saw: The French makers of documentary winner March of the Penguins holding stuffed versions of their stars.
What you didn't see: The filmmakers responsible for March of the Penguins were still clutching their stuffed penguins backstage. Producer Emmanuel Priou said that their distributor in Japan "made them and sent them for good luck. They were right, because we have had a lot of good luck tonight."

Aw...

So that I don't get my ass sued, all that came from this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20060306/en_usatoday/theacademyawardsshowyouneversaw

Sorry. I'm too lazy to make the link nice and html-ed.

Anyway, that's it! Bye, folks!
