i watched matchstick men today and i noticed some similarities between alisan lohman's characters in matchstick men and her first movie, white oleander.
oops - spoilers!
1) both her characters are blondes who dye their hair black towards the end of the movie
2) the two characters have a strong bond going on with a single parent - in white oleander it was with michelle pfieffer who plays her mom and in matchstick men it was with nicholas cage who plays her dad.
3) the parents whom her character shares a strong bond with are criminals - nicholas played a conman and michelle's character was a murderer.
4) in both movies her criminal parents each used her - in w.o., michelle wanted her to provide an alibi and in m.m. she helped nic out in his big con scam.
4) she eventually gets to turns the tables on her scheming single parents in both movies.
